Syfy.com premieres the steampunk digital series Riese: Kingdom Falling, winner of Streamy Awards for Best Cinematography and nominee for Best Sound Design and Art Direction. The series was created by Ryan Copple and Kaleena Kiff and produced by Galen Fletcher and Nicholas Humphries. I’ve been looking forward to this series, which SyFy has put a lot of marketing effort into. Let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint! Terry Gilliam presents 1884: YESTERDAY’S FUTURE
1884: YESTERDAY’S FUTURE tells the story of a future that might have been, but never was. Directed by Tim Ollive, it’s a bewitching blend of animation, puppetry, and two and three dimensional computer generated imagery set against stunning painted backgrounds, model sets and period photographs. “It’s the story of outstanding heroism in the face of deception, subterfuge and treachery,” says the official website and it was apparently filmed with amateur equipment on Tim Ollive’s kitchen table. TOR Announces Steampunk Fortnight and the Steampunk Indie Mart Literary Corner
A Steampunk Fortnight, to be celebrated from 20th October to 3rd November, has been announced by Tor.com and will include blog posts, adventure fiction, copious giveaways and much more. There’ll also be a Literary Corner at this year’s Steampunk Indie Market in Brooklyn, NY on October 24th with readings from original works by N. K. Jemisin, Felix Gilman,Genevieve Valentine, Lev AC Rosen, Leanna Renee Hieber, and G. D. Falksen; recitations of steampunk classics by Nina Lourie, Ay-Leen the Peacemaker, and Nasty Canasta; and free tea and scones. Syfy.com has announced they’ll begin streaming the steampunk-inspired webseries RIESE every Tuesday and Thursday, on October 26 at syfy.com/riese. Synopsis: Riese: Kingdom Falling takes place in Eleysia, a dying kingdom where distrust and anxiety have clouded people’s minds, causing a regression into primitive ways of thinking. Rituals and mythology have resurged, and the darker side of mankind has begun to reveal itself. Riese, a wanderer, travels across the decaying land with her wolf, Fenrir.
